Settling into Life in Jacksonville

I finally finished writing, editing, re-editing, and designing the book I've been working on for the last three years. I intend to self-publish and have a go at selling it myself. Above and below are the front and back covers.



I also finally finished Ellie's Book, maple, 12"x8", commissioned by my friend Maggie for her new granddaughter, Ellie, who's photo will be appearing here soon.



I should be finished soon with this carving of a mother and daughter with her kitty. I bought the log from a guy outside of town. I've had to carve in front of the garage because the log was too heavy to move any place else and because of that I've gotten to meet lots of my neighbors.





My neighbor Pat came over and introduced herself when I was outside carving and we've been hiking in the mornings ever since.



Here are a few pictures that I shot on my morning hike today. First is the sign they put up on our street warning everyone that a cougar has been spotted walking down our street, then there's the deer that roam freely around town and are very tame, next is my favorite house, then there is Ta Ta (Ta for short) sitting in the back window of my bedroom. The next few photos are of the main drag in Jacksonville, in front of one of the stores on California Street, and a shot of a cabbage in a flower box downtown.















Below are a few photos of Mary's house where I'm taking care of her cats. A registered landmark house, built in 1895, the stairs are very steep but great exercise.
